Basic Supplies for Success

Help me give my students a color printer, additional ink, rotating stackable shelves, notebooks, paper, and more of the basic supplies to have a successful year.

My Project

At the beginning of the school year, parents have so much stress to prepare for: new clothes, shoes, and routines to prepare for the new year. Unfortunately, school supplies are not affordable for a lot of families. By creating a DonorsChoose, my goal is to alleviate some of the stress off of the parents (and students) as they begin a new school year.

We make/use interactive notebooks for science and social studies lessons.

These notebooks will keep track of everything that we go over daily, but will also contain handouts and graphic organizers that require cutting, coloring, drawing, labeling of maps, charts, vocabulary etc. in the composition notebooks. The folders are to help keep the students organized and hold of all of the other loose papers that they haven't completed.

My classroom is also outside in a portable building, think along the lines of a trailer house if you aren't familiar. This means I have zero access to a bathroom, printer or copier. So, if I need to use any of those things, I have to go outside (during Colorado winters) and into the main building while someone has to watch my class. It's extremely inconvenient. I can't print in color either, which isn't helpful at all when trying to follow the patterns of certain maps. I don't have cabinets, which is why I need plenty of bookshelves and space.

With this project, students will be provided whiteboards and markers for daily math assignments. Additionally, students will be provided with pencils for their hand-written assignments. All of these basics are required to have a successful school year. With your generous help my students have a much better chance of being successful and feeling proud about their work.
