My Students

My students are a diverse group of students from the heart of Bed-Stuy Brooklyn growing up in low income families. My students are creative, thoughtful innovative and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are my inspiration!

Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, and my students are becoming book-loving, avid readers, and enthusiastic learners.

In the classroom we incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are!

They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have a new group of learners that are excited and ready to learn each year!

My Project

Fifth grade is a stepping stone year for students where they end their elementary schooling and get ready to begin middle school in the next school year. This is the time to start build lasting routines and character.

My classroom needs basic supplies in order to keep my students successful and motivated to prepare them for the real world ahead.

I am asking for astrobright paper in order to make classroom copies for hw and class work having the color pages will excite the students, dry erase boards and expo markers to be used during centers, assessments, the use of whiteboards is almost a daily activity in my classroom, especially in math. The pens and sharpies are to be used during reading and writing workshops. The emoji pencils to be used as incentives to motivate learning.

The planners will help my students with organization by making a list of what needs to be accomplished in the short term, as well as the long term. This is a life skill that will carry them far beyond the fifth grade. The planners will help to keep an open line of communication between myself and my students' parents.

Your donations will provide my students with durable, well organized planners and supplies that will last the entire year .
