My Students

I work in Kindergarten in a low-income school. My students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the school environment. They come to school everyday ready to learn.

Many of them are being raised in single-parent households or even by grandparents.

They receive free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. When they come into my classroom, I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. I may no be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly control their experiences during their school day.

My Project

The dry erase markers and erasers will be used everyday to practice writing their alphabet, sight words, their name, math problems, etc. The cardstock paper will be used for different projects that we do daily. Colored paper will be used for notes sent home. The colored paper will get the parents attention. We do directed drawings weekly in the classroom. The white drawing paper will be beneficial for this activity. The construction paper will be used in the Art Station during group activities and the students will love all the different colors.
