Basic Supplies For Inner City School

Help me give my students school supplies they will need to be successful in Algebra class this year.

My Students

The best way to describe the students I teach are resilient dedicated learners. I describe them this way because they all live in an urban school district and almost all of them come from either low-income or poverty neighborhoods, along with either seen or experienced trauma in their lives. Even though their home life is difficult, they come to school each day with a smile on their face and the motivation to do their best. I am amazed at how they can concentrate on learning when they have many problems at home or in their neighborhoods. They are excited to study and learn in hopes of being the first child in their families to go to college and make a better life for their families.

I want equity for my classroom.

Since my school is 100% free lunch, most of my students do not have money for basic school supplies. With this donation, I will be able to supply them with items their neighboring suburban 8th grade students use in their Algebra classroom.

My Project

These supplies will help students in their Algebra class. It will give them the ability to complete assignments in class and always have the supplies they need while in class. Students will have a in class binder with these supplies in it for each day in class.

Supplies are the first step for success in school.

Having a highlighter to mark important information in their notes will help them find study information quicker and help them prepare for assessments. Each student will have their own handheld pencil sharpener to keep their pencils sharp and ready for classwork. A pencil pouch will allow each student to have their own in class supplies for different activities in class. Pencil erasers will help when students make errors in Algebra. Two pocket folders will be used to keep students organized with their corrected work and homework. Rulers will be helpful when students need to graph linear equations. The pencil pouches will be kept in class in their personal binder and will be used to hold all of their supplies needed for Algebra class. All of these supplies will aid my students in being successful in this next school year.
