My Students
I serve students in a self-contained autistic support classroom. The students in my class have diverse needs and require a high level of structure and evidence-based instruction and behavioral supports in order to achieve full potential. They come to school each day ready to be challenged to reach for the next bar, which looks different for each of them. Some of my students are learning to write their names. Others are learning names for common objects like shoes and pencil. Still, some others are working at-grade level and trying his or her very best during their inclusion time with their same-aged peers in regular education.
The students in my classroom deserve materials unique to their learning needs.
Each DonorsChoose project is selected with this in mind. A lot of times, the materials accessed through generous donations wouldn't be otherwise available to these students in any setting. For them, the materials we have in our classroom make a big difference!
My Project
We serve students in a self-contained classroom for middle school students with autism. It is important that these students are supported across all domains - not just academics. These students receive instruction in anything that matters to them and anything that meets their needs.
These materials support developing instruction for students that expands basic academic content into domains such as leisure, life skills, and art.
These materials are a step toward independence for many. The students will learn to cook, play with age-appropriate toys, and create art projects. These materials help our students access new content in diverse curricular areas.
