I teach students with special needs and general education students inside the regular education classroom. My classroom is a very active place! My students are very eager and enthusiastic to find out how, what, and why things work the way they do. The disabilities they face do not hold them back.
Students in my class learn best with hands-on projects that involve an integrated curriculum.
They love science, mathematics and art, so we try to blend these as much as possible. My students love learning.
Using a STEAM approach in the classroom helps motivate students with activities that they truly enjoy while developing academic skills.
My students love to learn and are excited to do new things! They are always on the move and love lessons that keep them active and engaged. They love to be creative and use that creativity to make new things!
My Project
I need a class pack of crayons, markers and glue sticks to allow us to create amazing literacy arts and crafts. I believe that when you use art to help teach reading you are making a combination that will increase student motivation and learning.
Through specialized literacy crafts, we will increase reading skills.
For example, students will be able to remember a letter "A" much easier if they are creating their own "A" along with a picture that will help them remember the sound.
Through art, my students can learn more about how to read and have fun doing it to!
