Basic Student Supplies Needed

My students need basic school supplies to help them be successful in school.

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Hayashi's classroom raised $209

My Students

I teach at an elementary school in Hawaii. My students represent many different cultures and economic backgrounds. Most of my students are "disadvantaged" due to economic backgrounds.

Although my students may be facing challenges in their lives, they are always eager to learn new things.

Our school has been using a state mandated reading and math curriculum. Many of our students are struggling, especially with the reading curriculum. Our students experience difficulty relating to the stories shared in the reading curriculum, because of their limited exposure to different climates and cultures. Many of our students have never left the Hawaiian islands; therefore, their personal experiences are very limited.

My Project

My second grade classroom has recently transformed into a flexible seating learning environment. Students sit together in table groups. Each table is uniquely shaped with no desk space available for supplies. Therefore, each table shares a supply caddy amongst 4-6 students. The supply caddy helps to organize their pencils, erasers, coloring supplies, scissors and glue for all students sitting at that particular table.

My students are always in need of sharpened pencils, erasers and/or sharperned colored pencils.

These basic student supplies will be used to help replenish items such as pencils, erasers, colored pencils, sharpie pens, glue and binder paper.
