Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come to class knowing that even though they might not fully understand math, they're improving and trying their hardest to become great in math. We can do this with the additional resources that our school adopted. Through repetitive practice, and a different approach, my students see progress.

My students attend a Title One public school with a student population of 2400+, predominately Hispanic and 100% free and reduced price lunch participants.

Most students come from a low-income home, and face the obstacle of limited resources at home, which results in low math scores, and lack of interest in school. Despite these obstacles, they are eager to learn and improve in their math skills on a daily basis. They are wonderful students who are creative, passionate, open-minded, and hungry for the knowledge of math, if taught through progression.

My Project

My students and I requested printing paper because our school adopted a great math curriculum that provides additional resources for them, but in order to work properly, we need to make packets for each student. With a roster of 170+students, we go through our monthly copy limit within the first week. With extra white paper, we would be able to complete more skills necessary to succeed in school. Our last pencil sharpener burned out and even though we got an used pencil sharpener, it doesn't work all the time. This is why we are requesting a reliable pencil sharpener, in order to be able to work, plus pencils.

Your donations to this project will improve how students feel about math, knowing they can succeed because they have the proper supplies to learn.

My students would learn to appreciate math more when they understand it, because of the additional help that was provided through a different curriculum. With your help, we can change how students feel about math.
