This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

An Indoniesian artist once said, "Art is thought expressed through the hands." Through basic art and school supplies, I hope to provide my students with the tools needed to enhance their creativity and artistic skills.

I have 34, pre-school age students, who are predominantly from a Latino/Hispanic background with a few African/American students.

For many of them, their first language is Spanish and unfortunately, they are living within the poverty guidelines. However, they are extremely enthusiastic about coming to school everyday and learning new things. They're in need of the experiences that every child deserves. I hope by providing them with basic art supplies for daily use they will enhance their artistic abilities and creativity.

My Project

Currently the students have a short supply of basic school supplies of scissors, glue, construction paper, and crayons. With the materials the students will have materials that will be used throughout the all classroom centers and daily activities. The way pre-school students convey meaning is through art and pictures, so use of crayons and markers is necessary for daily use. The materials being asked for can be used in the art, writing, reading, science, math, and block centers.

Having these materials in the classroom is so important for instructional purposes and daily use because it will help my students with hands-on learning, convey meaning through art and writing, and enhance artistic and creative skills.
