Basic School Supplies for a Self-Contained Autism Unit

Help me give my students a binding machine, binders, folders, and other basic necessary classroom supplies they need for class.

My Project

The need for basic materials in self-contained units is many. Over the last several years, we have stopped asking parents for school supplies because one student's parent may not have the same amount of money to spend on supplies. What you are left with is a major class disruption. The students that don't have them want the cool pencils, pouches and fun smelly erasers. By having the teacher issue the supplies, all of the students have the same materials. The problem arises when the teacher is unable to continue purchasing these items due to their lack of financials. www.donorschoose.org helps alleviate these issues in class. Giving them plastic durable folders will help organize the students and make sure the folders last.

By donating to our project, you will help alleviate the financial burden on the teacher and parents, you will supply the self-contained Autism Spectrum Disorder Unit with necessary basic supplies.

These supplies will also allow them to have a wide variety of materials available for their academic needs. Not only can teacher-made materials be created and reused with the supplies in this project, but items like the binding machines will also be able to compose compilations of their best work. The wrap and packing tape will help us wrap projects to send home and will make sure all of the projects are protected on their ride home.

By not carrying the financial burden for equity the teacher will have the opportunity to create other projects and hands-on activities for the students with the money that would have been spent on these items. The students will have a sense of equity and of will be able to focus on academics.
