Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are from a Title I School that is located in a low income neighborhood. They are eager to learn but lack the necessary supplies. School starts in August, and parents struggle to purchase supplies or even uniforms.
My students are hungry not for food but for knowledge.
They come to school with hopes and dreams. I want to enhance their dreams by increasing their knowledge. Fifth grade is a crossroads for my students as they are on their way to middle school. My students enjoy working on workstations.
My Project
I am asking for a variety of basic resources to improve our classroom. I am asking for a carpet to create an area for flexible seating during workstations. I use workstations to spiral concepts that I have taught before. I am also asking for a class pack of colored pencils for students to use to color code their Math journals. Sharpies are always needed at the beginning of the school year so they can write their name on everything.
My students desperately need of a class set of clipboards, because the set we had was contaminated with mold.
I also need a special chair for small group instruction. The step stool will be used to safely hang student work and posters around the room.
