This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The skirts and shoes will benefit my students because they will be able to do their performances with the required materials. When teaching folkloric dance, and Latin dance one essential aspect that often goes overlooked is the emphasis on proper costumes. This proposal aims to highlight the importance of accessing suitable costumes that accurately represent the culture being taught. By recognizing the significance of authentic attire, we can contribute to the sustainability and accurate portrayal of understanding and appreciation. In addition, the mats are essential equipment we need for warmups and stretching exercises before practicing. It helps prevent students from getting hurt during dance practice.

The two main goals are:

1. Being able to share with our school and community the richness of our Latin American culture through dance performances and cultural sharing in order to educate.

2. Long-term goal is to be able to cultivate and preserve our culture and traditions in our community and bring our school together with our community.

This project is for my students who decided to come together to create the first Latin X Dance Team in the school. They wanted to find ways to express their roots through the art of music and dance. These students are very enthusiastic about bringing back their heritage to the school. The drive and empowerment that these students show toward their project makes me want to support their ideas.
