This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach at a large, urban, Title I school, and my students come from a working-class community where the majority qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. Their skill sets are as diverse as their backgrounds. I have students who are gifted and talented, students who are overcoming their learning differences, and students who are at multiple stages of English language acquisition. They are all hardworking, eager learners who are constantly curious about the world around them.
My seventh grade students are innovative, intelligent, and actively seek out new knowledge, yet my school is lacking basic requirements, such as paper.
Despite having ample technology, I am finding myself unable to meet the diverse needs of my students because I am unable to make copies
Our magnet has an emphasis on film and media and provides a rigorous academic program to a wide range of learners. As a math teacher, my goal is to inspire my students to view the world's wonders through a mathematical lens and think critically about the world around them, basic classroom supplies will help them achieve these goals.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
