My Students

I work at a Title I school where every student receives free breakfast and lunch. Often these are the only meals that they receive. My class has 27 students who are always excited and eager to learn new things! I have some of the hardest working students. However, we are missing some of the basics.

My students come from varied backgrounds.

I have so many that are living in extended family homes. They see and deal with violence every single day in their neighborhoods. School is the one place where they have a chance to feel safe and be a child. All too often I hear about students worrying about what will happen over school breaks and who will give them their hugs.

My Project

As my students come with limited support from home, we are truly missing the basics. We need pencils, a pencil sharpener, tissues, glue sticks, and copy paper. Our school also has limited funds and often runs out of the basic supplies. We were just informed that no more copy paper will be bought for the rest of the year. I have been trying my best to supply these things for our class but it's all added up so quickly!

These donations will give my students the basics they need to learn.

I have to be able to supply them with pencils when they go home as well, so that they can continue working there. They truly are a great bunch of children and they want nothing more to be successful. It's hard to do when you don't have the bare minimum! Please help us!
