Basic Materials Needed to Help Students Be Successful!
Help me give my students the basics they need to be successful in my classroom. We are currently lacking these basic classroom materials; specifically the white boards, markers, and erasers.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a teacher in a low-income/high-poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, my goal is to keep them motivated to learn every single day.
My students are creative, intelligent, and capable of learning every single day!
Many of them are being raised in transitional housing and receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. These things may prevent them from getting ahead early in life and may not provide them with the life experiences many of us see as "typical". From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. By doing this in a creative and positive way with engaging materials, I am hopeful my students will reach their academic success!
My Project
Since my students have special needs, learning can be difficult, especially in math and ELA. With white boards and markers, students will be able to jot down their ideas and show their math computation skills. Many students with special needs become frustrated with writing down ideas in a notebook.
Instead, being able to write down their ideas on a white board helps to motivate many of our students to learn and be successful in their school work.
Currently my classroom is lacking these materials. During math work, this will help students to show their thinking during fluency with the basic operations. In ELA, students will be able to jot down their ideas for basic sentence structure, as well as paragraph formation.
