This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The goal of my multicultural arts class is to inspire students to inspire themselves so they can create beautiful art. Because this is our first year with an art program, we need basic supplies to teach acrylic painting.

All of my students are first generation college bound kids.

They come from low income backgrounds and most are gang-involved or gang-impacted students with permanent stress disorder. They have a great sense of humor and an awe inspiring inner strength.

My Project

My students need basic acrylic painting supplies including brushes, paint, and a trimmer. The brushes we order will benefit future students. Our social justice-based mini paintings will be part of our fundraising bazaar. We are planning to do printed holiday cards, beaded clay jewelry and paintings to sell at silent auctions and at our local farmers market.

The entire budget to start the art program is $2000.

Our small charter school does not have the resources to have fancy art supplies but the commitment to art education is strong. We hope you help us with this project!
