Baseball Equipment: Our Tee to Happiness

My students need an indoor pitching machine and tees and nets to make our indoor practices more meaningful.

My Students

Our baseball team is a group of highly motivated and committed young men. Each day they trek about 1.5 miles to their baseball field, just to practice. Our school doesn't own the fields near our school and we must travel, even to our home games. But we're competitive every year.

Our special admissions school is based on the belief that the arts provide an unequaled opportunity to foster intellectual growth by connecting arts and literacy across all content areas.

We believe in providing students with a rigorous academic education and a strong focus on art that will motivate, inspire, and prepare them for college and career. At the same time the school will prepare students to be participating members of a democratic society by engaging them as stakeholders in their education. The spirit of intellectual curiosity is encouraged in and through the arts. Having said all this, our athletic programs are made up of highly motivated, creative students, who just so happen to play sports as well. We're not a typical high school, with a football team and a homecoming weekend, but our sports are competitive, and our fans are passionate.

My Project

The equipment provided will allow us to utilize the gym on cold, wet or rainy days. Instead of canceling practice, we can have an efficient practice in the gym. The tees will help individual hitters be able to focus in on their swings. The nets will work as backstops for the tees and for fielding drills. And the lite flite machine and the yellow balls allow for the gym to become a field where we can scrimmage safely.

Donations to this project and having this equipment will help to establish our baseball program as a more competitive team.

The lite flite balls and pitching machine can also be used in the gym during phys ed, where almost anyone in the school can use the equipment.
