My Students
My classroom is self-contained, and I teach in an urban area. Reading is very important, and I want to highlight the importance of it this year with this group of students. I do know that I will have a variety of students on different levels. I have a group of students that come from different backgrounds.
My Project
Covid had a major impact on these group of kids! These students were in Kindergarten when the schools shut down. They were forced to learn from home half of the year . The following year some of the students were face to face and some were virtual. Now these students are in 2nd grade and are lacking number sense.
My students need concrete manipulatives to help them better understand place value.
Having this resource will allow my students to have their very own personal set to use during instruction , instead of having to share with classmates. Students will be able to bring their own personal set of base ten blocks to small group. Students will be able to take their blocks home and practice. Students will be able to use their blocks during assessments.
