Base of all Operations

Help me give my students bases to utilize their Osmo Programming kits! Kits can't be used without the bases to see their work.

My Students

Technology is a necessary skill in today's world. Students are taught logic, language arts and math skills using computers every day.

The smallest students are often at a disadvantage from only using tablets.

When people tell me it must be difficult teaching the littles computers- I remind them that most of my job is teaching them how to use a mouse and logon to a traditional computer. It's not difficult, but takes time. Students have to expand these skills in order to use technology to its full advantage!

My Project

This is a companion project for our previous Osmo Programming project. These bases allow me to use our existing classroom iPads to share Osmo Kits between 2 students. Students learn how to communicate directions in concise pictorial language they can understand as pre-readers.

These kits teach logic order of operations and allow even the smallest students to then become effective computer programmers!

When the youngest students learn how to program using manipulatives, their senses are engaged in ways the computer can't provide. Yet this system teaches (so very quickly) computer skills PLUS skills needed in math, language arts and science!
