My Project

Now, more than ever, students and staff need social-emotional supports. We a designated Title I school, which has a diverse population of students. Roughly half of our students come from low income households. The donations to this project will benefit all of our students through Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) for our Student Store called our BARKet Market to support the five competencies of Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)- Self Awareness, Self Management, Social Awareness, Relationship Skills, and Responsible Decision Making (CASEL's Competencies).

The goal and expected learning outcome is for our students to follow our school-wide expectations of Being Positive, Acting Responsibly, Respecting Themselves and Others, and Keeping Safety #1.

We give our students B.A.R.K. Bucks because we are the Bulldogs and we looking for students "giving their best Bulldog BARK"! Common Core Standards are best supported through social and emotional learning. Social-emotional skills are implicit-embedded in the Standards. If the students are to successfully meet the Standards, they must possess social-emotional skills. SEL is part of our District's Five Year Strategic Plan for Extraordinary Schools built by the Community of Carson City, "Goal 4- Healthy Generations of Students: Promote optimal wellness for all students. Objective 4.1: Advance social and emotional wellness for all students." Our school's incentive program for students supports not only their well-being, but also their academic success. (Based on SEL Standards written in Washoe County 1.A, B, C-5.A, B, C, and 5.D, E)
