Our school is located in a rural community. We have an enrollment of about three hundred students and we are a Title I school. The school is a family school; we live, work, play, and worship very closely with one another.
Our kindergarten children are some of the most energetic, curious, and caring children we've had the pleasure to guide in some time.
The teachers and assistants have been thinking carefully to come up with new ways to teach our students through this new normal. We are working on a hybrid schedule at this time. Our boys and girls have varied interests. They're all different but what they all have in common, is a love for the school and learning new things, as well as a drive to grow in our learning community. They still need to thrive in an atmosphere that will enrich their background knowledge and immerse them in authentic learning experiences! That's why we've pledged to dig deeper in our learning this year!
My Project
Small group instruction time is an integral part of my kindergarten classroom's daily routine. Currently the chairs for seating in this area of the room are bulky and noisy and the children spend most of their time banging and scooting to get into a comfortable position. With young learners, this can be a whole production of lost instructional time. The wobble stools that I am seeking to acquire through this project are quiet, comfortable, streamlined, and ergonomically designed for the students' use. With these wobble stools, my students will be able to pull up to the area designated for small group instruction quickly and quietly and be able to focus on having fun with instruction instead of losing time with the cumbersome chairs we currently have.
