My students need quality musical instruments in order to participate and succeed in our school's band program.

My Students

Our school is a rural district in a very poverty-stricken area of Missouri. The majority of our students qualify for free lunch. We started a band program two years ago, and find that many who want to join do not have the finances required to participate, and therefore get left out. Several potential successful musicians miss out on the opportunity to learn to play an instrument due to their finances. This fundraiser will help the students who might otherwise "fall through the cracks" to gain this valuable and worthwhile experience.

My Project

Flutes, clarinets, trumpets, saxophones and trombones are not typically provided to students who participate in band. However, in our school, the only way many students will be able to participate is if we find a way to do just this. Our band program is growing, and our inventory needs to grow with it. The students in our small school don't have many activities in which they can participate outside of regular classroom activities, so band is one of the few things we can offer them. I want to provide every student who wants to participate the opportunity to join us.

Our supply of instruments is very small, so these instruments will go into the hands of students who might otherwise not get to participate in our school's band.
