BAM! Our Students Read Books From Their Book Pouches!
Help me give my students book pouches to stuff with their "at level" reading books and ensure they remember to read for 20 minutes daily at home.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have 22 second grade students. My students represent a Title I school located in south Glendale, California.
Over half of our students are Hispanic, 29% are Armenian/White, and 8% are Filipino.
Thirty-five percent of our students are ELLs and 68% are listed as economically disadvantaged.
They learned how to read in Kinder and First grades, now in second I want them to read a lot to increase fluency, vocabulary and the love of books!
My Project
Our elementary school is a Title I school located in south Glendale, California. Over half of our students are Hispanic, 29% are Armenian/White, and 8% are Filipino. Thirty five percent of our students are ELLs and 68% are listed as economically disadvantaged. Many of my students do not have access to books at their level at home.
With this grant, I will ensure that my students take books at their reading level home and practice their phonics and fluency skills.
These book pouches will be a reminder to select their books weekly and read daily.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
