My students come to school each day because they know they matter. My 18 are positive, curious, kind, fun, and respectful. They give high fives and hugs. Few have all of the necessities children should have to focus on learning; but once they enter our room we’re a team, a family, we care about each other.
Despite the trauma and unbelievable experiences they already have for 7-8 year olds; they come to school because I care about them, I respect them, and I will prepare them for the future.
I try to buy and provide everything our district can't, but it adds up. Simple tools to help them focus and enjoy their learning is worth the money; and effort to find some help to get the tools they need and deserve.
I love my class and appreciate everything they give back to me as their teacher. I feel they add more to my life than they'll ever realize.
My Project
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement. My students who have the hardest time sitting still are proving to work longer and complete the work when using these Gaiam balance ball seats as a tool. I've already seen an increase in attendance when it's their turn for a seat, and we only have a few to share. We're able to use them for small group learning and long listening and learning ELA lessons. Students are excited to just sit and do their work! Few "things" provide this today for our kids. They're showing respect, cooperation, and kindness because they realize this is a tool for them to use. My students are responsible and appreciative of the few Gaiam balance ball seats we have. Knowing more were donated to them...they will be extremely excited and grateful. I can't wait to show their reactions!
