This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Although our school is in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students overcome their everyday challenges with grace. They are creative, driven, and talented individuals determined to succeed.

For the past several years, my students have not had any performing arts education- no dance, no instrumental music, no choir, no theater.

For the past two years, I have been working tirelessly to grow them as both artists and agents of change. They have been given the opportunity to create, perform, respond, and connect dance to their everyday lives in order for personal growth.

Dance gives my students a space to create, express, and explore their personal interests and with your help, my students will be able to thrive through a quality performing arts education.

My Project

This past school year, my dance students have engaged in numerous dance performances in and around our school community. Instead of just having a dance ensemble, I have decided to create a Dance Team to let students further pursue their passions. This team will compete in dance within and around our Newark community. These donations would help the dance team students look their best at their upcoming dance competitions and events.

Providing students with basic dance necessities will ensure their success in dance education and beyond.

In this project, I am asking for basic ballet leotards, tights, and shoes so that students look their best during team performances. These students deserve to look like the beautiful ballerinas they are. Investing in these students will encourage them to pursue their passion in dance for years to come.
