Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My Pre-K students are in their first year of a PreK-5 Spanish Immersion program. The students come from English, Spanish, and other language backgrounds. Our wonderful program has been in existence since the early 1990s but added Pre-K in 2004. It is a unique opportunity to learn a second language while focusing on social-emotional development and kindergarten readiness in a public school setting. Our goal is to foster bilingualism, biliteracy, and biculturalism that will last our students a lifetime.
My Project
These two balancing bikes will be a great addition to our outdoor play equipment. We have a bicycle path on our yard that the kids follow as they practice and play together. We currently have a few tricycles and two person tricycles to use on our playground.
Our students are now ready for the next big step in learning to ride a real bike!
These two balance bikes will help them build the skills they may be working on at home to learn to ride a two wheel bike on their own!
More than half of students from low‑income households
