This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are part of a wonderful public school in the city of Cleveland. My classroom is, for most, the first educational environment that they will encounter in their lives. Our integrated Pre-kindergarten babies are so very eager to learn new things and make new friends along the way. My students have multiple opportunities to explore and discover new ideas and experiences in my classroom. As we are all different and learn in so many different ways, I strive to look for new ways to meet the needs of all of my students.
My Project
My goal for this school year is to provide my PreK students with multiple flexible seating options. Some children need more movement than others. For some students, being in motion allows their brain to be engaged.
Flexible seating such as using balancing balls, allows the students to wobble, rock, and bounce, which increases their oxygen levels, helps keep young minds more alert and focused.
Using the balance balls, my students will be able to get out their excess energy while also increasing their motivation and engagement in the classroom. When a child sits on a ball chair, they are able to direct their natural kinesthetic energy and need for movement in a positive way.
