My Students
Do you remember the last time you were doing a science experiment in a middle/high school lab? How fun was that? What would have happened if you couldn't carry out the experiment because your lab missed some important materials? This is currently the case for my students.
We have a school full of students who choose to come here to learn Science and Technology.
Some of them travel a long distance or even use two or three means of public transportation to get here. They go the extra mile because they find something valuable here that they cannot find elsewhere. We strive hard to provide a great learning environment for them. We are pretty much caught up with the technology we provide them, but I cannot say the same thing with our science lab.
Every year, we add new things to our lab to get it closer to make it a fully functional lab. Of course, this is not easy with limited budget.
My Project
The balances are especially important to be used in Chemistry experiments in our Integrated Science and Chemistry classes. By using balances, students not only measure amounts for mixing chemicals, but also practice their metric system skills. With the help of the graduated cylinders, they will be able to measures different volumes of solutions that will help them in the experiments. Again, they will practice their metric system skills. Erlenmeyer flasks are especially useful in mixing solutions together in a lab setting. Overall, they will use all of these materials along with other items in our lab to accomplish Chemistry experiments without interruption.
Your donation will help our students to go from theoretical to practical experience.
This project will help students from observing me demonstrate a lab to them actually performing the lab themselves. They will feel more confident about their science knowledge by doing the lab themselves. Since they will work in groups, this will also help them improve their group communication skills.
