Balanced Bodies Make Balanced Minds

My students need a variety of classroom seating options (metal stack stools, balance discs, balance balls, and plastic stack stools) to enhance their concentration while learning.

My Students

Students enter my classroom each day motivated, eager, and excited to learn. My goal as their teacher is to maintain this passion and help them grow as individuals.

I have the pleasure of teaching fourth graders from a variety of social, cultural, and economic backgrounds.

My students present a variety of academic abilities and strengths. One way I can help further their learning is to give them multiple seating options while they learn. This will help them stay comfortable and maintain focus throughout the school day.

Each day, I want my kids to feel that they were valued and appreciated. Together we make a community of learners... ready to take on the world.

My Project

In a world with constant connectivity and stimulation, it is more challenging than ever to keep students focused in the classroom. If we want motivation and engagement from our kids, we need to adapt to the dynamic, fast-paced environments they are exposed to every day.

The students who I have the privilege of teaching are used to a world with a plethora of choices and these choices shouldn't end when they enter the classroom.

This can't be done when kids sit in the same desks and chairs all day long. Flexible seating is linked to higher academic performance, better health, and improved behavior.

I am requesting five plastic stack stools for our teacher small group table. This will allow students to sit comfortably and help them stay alert and focused. In addition, there will be two metal stack stools for teacher-student conferencing. I am also requesting four balance balls and four balance discs for centers to allow students to move comfortably and safely while working in small groups. All the requested items will also be used throughout the classroom as needed.
