Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am fortunate to work with the best and brightest science students in the country in AP Physics. My students are hard-working and brilliant. Over the years we have improved our lab equipment so that the experiments we do in class have incredibly precise and highly actionable data. Excellent data collection leads to amazing graphical, data and error analysis.
This year I am asking for a Gravitational Balance so that my AP Physics C kids can perform one of the most famous experiments of all time: Cavendish's measurement of the Universal Gravitational Constant.
This constant is incredibly small and very difficult to measure with any reliable precision. The Gravitational Balance that we are purchasing will allow my students to see just how delicate and difficult the measurements are, and will allow them to truly appreciate the genius of Henry Cavendish, who performed the experiment in 1798!
In addition to the Gravitational Balance, we will be purchasing Solar Panels and Electronic Balances for performing various experiments, shelves and storage bins to store the new equipment, and toner cartridges for our classroom printers.
