My Students
Balance, bounce and become a better learner
Our kindergarten classroom needs a set of Balance Ball Chairs.
I’m a Special Education teacher of the Integrated Co-Teaching Kindergarten Classroom. Our children are delightful, energetic and motivated young learners. Their first year in school is full of excitement and growth. We will be focusing throughout this year on mastering academic skills. We watch with delight as they learn letters, sounds and words and take their first steps toward reading and writing. They will acquire key fundamentals of math and have fun with language in every day as their vocabulary explodes.
In our classroom we have a group of children with special needs and also the handful of youngster who need an additional support. We support students by providing a safe, secure and loving environment to educate them socially, emotionally and cognitively. As a new teacher I witness that the school community is using every possible resources to accommodate each and every child’s special needs. However, I feel that supplying the classroom with additional equipment, such as Balancing Ball Chairs will help my students balance their sensory system and prepare for academic work.
My Project
Some children need more movement than others. And for some kids, being in motion is helping them to focus, listen and maintain attention. Teachers of the elementary grades have been noticing that when sitting on a ball chair and maintaining a balance, the child is able to direct his/her natural kinesthetic energy and need for movement in a positive way.
Balancing ball chairs have become absolute favorites in the classroom as it promotes children’s listening skills and helps them to focus and maintain attention.
Utilizing these sensory items in my classroom will help my students balance their sensory system and will enhance their motivation to learn.
