Baggy Books For Budding Readers Part 2

My students need a storage cart, 9 books bins, and 20 guided reading books.

My class of twenty, aspiring kindergarten readers attend a high poverty elementary school. As a new teacher, I cannot supply much needed materials that can be used for home enrichment.

These children are so excited because we have just received notice that our first "Baggie Books for Budding Readers" project is being shipped to us this week! The project is providing us with a library of books that the students can "check out" and take home to read each night. Now, we need an easy way to organize the books, so that the students can easily select a baggy book to take home and read with a parent or grown-up (and of course, a few more books!).

The storage cart, bin containers and additional books will give us an amazing classroom library (on wheels!) that we can access daily. These students come from a variety of backgrounds, all diverse. By giving them a book a night to take home and read with a family member, we are encouraging a love for reading and a home-school connection. Our books will have a home in the storage containers. These bins will be marked and allow the children the opportunity to select a book from the appropriate level and then return it to the correct bin. The cart on wheels will make it easy to relocate the books as needed in our classroom.

Your donation will give us an organizational tool for our library of books. The students will be better served by using the cart and bins. The process of selecting the books and returning them will be streamlined - allowing more time for effective teaching.
