This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our goal is to be at grade-level or above in our reading skills.
Our school is located in an economically depressed area.
Many of my students live in poverty, most are second language learners, and very few parents of students attended college or graduated from high school. Despite the many challenges that they face, my students are motivated and enthusiastic learners.
My Project
We recently had the opportunity to see Bad Kitty on Stage and it was fantastically hilarious! My students really want access to this series of books. These books will be read during our silent leveled-reading time. They will also be accessible to be checked out and taken home.
A student's enjoyment of reading contributes to their overall academic success.
In fact, one of the contributing factors to the development of a successful, independent reader is access to leveled books of their choosing. By donating to this project, you will expand our library and awaken a love for reading!
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
