it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are simply incredible! During the pandemic they have been stuck at home in their urban environment where its all low income housing yet every single one of my 77+ students are online daily learning ecology and the environmental sciences and loving it! It is difficult when I have an entire classroom on the TEAMS application and trying to perform 1 on 1 help or having them do scientific inquiry while I'm teaching through distance learning from my home.
I just received a fantastic laptop for my classroom to use at my house while performing the distant learning with my students.
However, there are materials and equipment that are necessary to keep the scientific learning experience going with my kids! Every moment of the day I'm thinking of new and creative ways to think out of the box during these difficult times.
My Project
Ok this project really needs to be funded fast for all my ecology lessons throughout the end of May and all of June...the seeds of all sorts of lettuces, carrots and other vegetables, the mushroom box, the Asian seedlings and the plant food will be used in my online video experiments inside my garden versus grown in the house. This entails an explanation of scientific inquiry allowing for understanding of manipulated and responding variables while watching the growth of life!!! I'll need a tool belt and the chair for my physical disabilities in order to properly plant and germinate the seeds. And while all that is going on I'll be showing how Bee Life works using the two different types of bee houses.
The rest of the materials needed are for my printer so I'll have the ability to print information out and send home to the parents or use for making copies of materials, the antivirus software for protecting the computer investment, a wireless mouse for using the laptop and a lap desk to hold my laptop and papers while I educate my children.
All of these materials will be put to good use and will help each child of mine understand and develop new scientific information and use the concepts in their real lives!
