My students are eager third graders from a high poverty public school. They come to school excited to learn new things and to actively engage in learning.
My students do not have backpacks to carry homework, projects, and supplies back and forth from home to school.
Parents want their children to have the supplies they need for school but most do not have extra money for school supplies.
Our school is a neighborhood wraparound school and we work hard to utilize all the resources we can find in the community to help our students succeed.
My Project
These durable backpacks will improve communication between home and school and will help keep all of my students organized. When students do not have a backpack they lose their work or things get damaged by rain or snow. Having sturdy backpacks will make the children feel proud and will increase their achievement because they will not lose or damage their work. These backpacks will increase the communication between parents and school because important notices, newsletters or graded student work will not be misplaced before it gets home. Students will benefit from having these sturdy backpacks to last them for many school years .
