Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are hard workers at an urban, inner city school. All of my students get free breakfast and lunch. More than half of my students come from families where English is not the first language, and in many cases school is their only exposure to English and/or learning math and reading skills.
My students come to school each day excited to learn and see what the day has in store for them.
The majority of my students come from low-income families, yet my school does an excellent job of encouraging our students to try their personal best, even when they have challenges at home.
I am always looking for ways to keep my students excited about their learning and ways to give them as many possibilities in their educational experiences.
My Project
I am asking for durable backpacks for my students. I plan to give them the backpacks for a Christmas gift. Many of my students don't have a backpack to carry their supplies to and from school. Sometimes important paperwork, homework, and permission slips gets lost.
Having brand new backpacks will help my students stay organized and keep important papers safe from being lost and/or damaged.
My students would be so thrilled to have something as simple as a backpack for Christmas. Please consider helping my students get a brand new backpack to help them have a successful third grade school year.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
