Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
All my students come from Spanish speaking families, I teach them in Spanish while building their English vocabulary and fluency. The majority of my students come from immigrant families.
The neighborhood is mostly Latino and with very close knit caring hard working families.
The school is a Title I school and 100% of the students qualify for free lunch.
I enjoy working there and have worked in the same school for many years. I get students that are in college that come to visit and are always grateful that I was their teacher.
My Project
The materials I am hoping to get for my students will help them learn at home. As many of my students are from low income homes I want to make sure they can have the basic supplies they need to be able to work at home and do assignments I ask them to do virtually. I want my students to be able to not just work online, but also use physical material. With the journals and writing and coloring materials they will be able to draw and write about a story. Practice writing letters and numbers. With the dice they will be able to practice counting and play addition games. With the dry erase boards and markers I am hoping they can practice penmanship and fine motor skills.
