My school currently serves approximately 1500 students in grades 9-12. My students come from homes with range from farms to public housing and everything in between. Most are from economically disadvantaged homes, as 100% of our students receive a free breakfast, lunch, and after school dinner.
Our motto here is that we are "PARK." The students and staff alike have bought into this message of Positivity, Attentiveness, Respect, and to always Keep going.
We provide them with a safe learning environment and try to meet each and every student's academic and personal needs. We feel if they are safe and comfortable, there are no limits to what they can achieve.
Our students have overcome many hardships by the time they come to us in the eighth grade. As a teacher, you set out to make a difference thinking you have something to offer your students, when in reality, it is often the students that do the most teaching.
My Project
Every year presents new students and new ideas to enhance their curriculum and time spent within the walls of school. Through the generous donors of DonorsChoose.org, we have accumulated quite the impressive array of items that my students are now able to use. However, with this influx of items, it has become necessary for some storage- what a great problem to have!
This project allows my students to have easy access to the supplies they've been provided through previous donations.
The storage shelf will allow us to easily view our supplies and choose what we need. They will also now have the ability to listen to music while they work with a Bluetooth speaker, and have the appropriate size markers that will last this year, and many yet to come. Thank you in advance for helping my special needs classroom continue to be my kids' favorite place in school!
