Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a teacher in one of the largest urban school districts in Texas. The majority of my students come from low income homes. They receive a free breakfast and lunch at school. Regardless of where they come from we strive to give our kids the best at my school.

This year I have 25 students in my classroom. We use a lot of pencils, erasers, crayons and dry erase markers. Many of my students brought their school supplies so we have some resources to start with. There are quite a few that didn't bring all the supplies to school so I have had to purchase what they need from my own pocket. I have a few that didn't bring anything and can't contribute if we run out of supplies. I don't have a problem getting supplies for my kids but this year its been hard. I have a full class of 25 students so its not always possible for me to keep up with the demand. I'm also a graduate student this year so it been a struggle to get my kids what we need.

I need some basic supplies for my kids. We need some extra crayons, pencils, markers, erasers, etc. These items will be used for our everyday activities in the classroom. I could use these supplies for those who don't have a pencil or crayons at home to do their homework. It's frustrating to see that kids have to take their supplies from home to school when there should be enough to have some at both places.

Your donation would make a big difference for the kids in my classroom. They are disappointed when they can't do activities at home because they don't have basic supplies to get the job done. Please help me give my kids what they need to be successful in the classroom.
