Help me give my students the tools to promote strong communication skills. These materials will support hands on learning and participation in our sessions.
I work in an elementary school in Queens, New York and I provide Speech & Language Therapy to students in PreK to 5th grade, many who have special needs. My students come from diverse ethnic backgrounds, with a variety of speech and language difficulties and developmental disorders. I work on expressive language, receptive language, social language, and literacy skills in order for my students to be successful in and out of the classroom.
Each day we use communication, speech and language to connect with people and the world around us, therefore everyone deserves to have a voice.
My students are hard working and resilient, and are always appreciative of hands on and engaging learning opportunities! Many of my students have been learning remotely since March 2020 and will be returning back to the school building this September. I cannot wait to work with them back in the school building this year!
My Project
My students benefit from an individualized and multi sensory approach to learning. The marker boards and markers will be used for visual support and as a hands-on engaging learning tool. With the Teachers Pay Teachers gift cards, I will buy materials to support my students' reading and listening comprehension, verbal expression, and social skills.
Each student will have a speech folder that will be used to carry over taught skills to the classroom and home environment.
These materials will be effective therapy tools for this school year and give my students a fun way to learn!
