Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are special because they each have diverse learning needs. They are part of an inclusive and collaborative classroom made up of children with IEP's, ELA students and other TK and kindergarteners.
The Play-Doh can be used for a variety of sensory, literacy and mathematical learning activities.
Students love the pretty, bright colors, and genuinely enjoy playing with Play-Doh.
The blue water beads, along with the ocean animals will be used to create a water sensory table that will resemble the ocean. With this sensory table, students will be able to cool off during our hottest days in sunny California.
The colorful dry-erase circles will help students label and become familiar with their classroom's set up. Additionally, the circles can help keep students occupied as they will literally be allowed to draw on the table.
The magnetic fishing toys will be used during hot days for water play. Learning opportunities can be implemented (e.g., counting, colors, fine motor, hand-eye coordination, etc.)
The kinetic sand will be used for sensory activities. Students may be allowed to play with kinetic sand during free choice, or in a sensory bin. Students can practice scooping, dumping and will also be exposed to different textures.
The liquid bubble timers will be used as reinforcers and fidgets (to keep little hands busy.)
The reusable water balloons will be used for water and sensory play. Students can practice squeezing and letting go.
The light up water cubes will also be used for water play on hot days.
The bubble machine will be used on a variety of occasions, indoor and out. During recess on a fun Friday, or on a rainy day when we are forced to stay inside.
The scoops will be used for the sensory tables to help students practice their fine motor skills.
