it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Math is so much more than just finding an answer--it's about collaborating with our fellow mathematicians, making our thinking visible and sharing our thoughts. It's important for our students to see themselves in the classroom & be proud of who they are. Students will have an opportunity to showcase their individuality at the beginning of the year. With the resources of crayons, poster board, markers, pencils & post-it chart paper, students will have the resources and supplies needed to create. A rug will allow a safe place for students to gather during their showcase!
Math isn't just in our text books, but everywhere in the world around us.
So many children are growing up and saying "I'm not a math person" because they struggled to make sense of their learning at a young age. To combat this, we want to develop a sense of love and engagement in mathematics so our students grow up LOVING math and fulfill their potential as engineers, mathematicians, scientists, artists and anything else they can imagine.
