This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Tell me, when was the last time you actually wrote using pen and paper? To have great impact in history, let the students write!
My students are 7th graders and this is their second year to experience common core.
Our school doesn't have yet the technology to fully implement the common core in instruction. As their teacher I will not make this as a hurdle to succeed in their education. Paper and pen are still a powerful tool to impart and acquire skills and knowledge.
My Project
It is clear we are living in a very "digital age". That doesn't mean that we have completely abandoned the pen and paper. If your computer "crashes" or there is a power outage as you use your computer, your information is lost if you take notes that way. If you use pen and paper, the only way you can lose your information is if you throw it away or misplace. My students will use these papers as their handouts and worksheets in my class and they will create a portfolio using those folders that I requested.
It will change my students' lives for the better if my project will be funded because my students will have access on their lessons and homework at home and school.
This a great tool to supplement their academic needs since my students will not be provided textbooks this year and most of them don't have computers at home.
