My students need breakfast items for when they come in late, snacks for the prize box, and sanitation supplies for a clean classroom! They need a vacuum, Softsoap, Dum Dum suckers, granola bars, Oreos, disinfectant spray, crackers, hand soap dispenser, etc.
The students in my 1st grade class come from a variety of backgrounds. I teach in a small farming community in South Louisiana. We don't even have a stop light in the whole town. While my students don't have a big town, they have huge ambition.

The reason I teach is because my students make me laugh, they make me a better teacher, they make me think, and I truly enjoy working with them every day.
My Project
The school supply list that the teachers send out every August has the very basics that we need: pencils, paper, notebooks, etc., but what about those other things? What about the times when the student is running late because mom is rushing to get to work and didn't have time to make breakfast and the cafeteria is already closed? It is so hard for students to concentrate with a rumbling belly. So it is so nice when the teacher has a stash of Nutri-Grain bars or trail mix to pull out! It is also really hard to concentrate when every student in the classroom is ill!
I requested a pump that can be installed on the classroom wall under the light switch that will dispense the perfect amount of hand sanitizer so that my students will have the cleanest germ-free hands at our school!
No more globs of hand sanitizer dripping all over the floor from the 1st grader that thought he needed five pumps of Germ-X! It is my goal to have the best attendance this year and the healthiest students. We will use our vacuum to make sure our new classroom rug is always clean too! Finally, the best motivation for a day's hard work is a sweet treat. Students just love a Dum-Dum sucker or a chocolate candy. Those also aren't on the supply list but cost teachers so much money out of their pocket every school year. Please help me this year with getting my students off to a wonderful school year!
