This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students I teach come from a variety of different economic backgrounds, with 100% of students receiving free lunch. Our school is also one of the most ethnically diverse schools in San Diego. Students speak a multitude of languages including English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Somali, and Burmese.

Our school is home to students that strive to be confident, respectful, responsible, and healthy thinkers.

I am kindly asking for your support in helping us as we continue distance learning. We need read aloud books for students.

My Project

Going back to school is not easy for many of our students. Having to meet a new teacher, learn new names, and changing classrooms are just some of the challenges they face. Now imagine having to do this after the longest summer break you've ever had....after learning from home last year? I think you're starting to get the picture.

Help me provide back to school survival kits for students!

I'd like them to have the tools necessary to learn at school and at home. Students will be able to use white board markers and erasers to quickly share their thinking with myself and peers. Lead pencils will provide writers with a sharpened pencil at all times. Clear contact paper will protect decorated journals. Lastly, I'd like to ensure they all have snacks to eat at recess so having quick and easy to grab individual/pre-packaged ones will be greatly appreciated.

With your support these materials will support students social emotional needs as well as provide them with the materials needed to complete assignments.
