This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students attend an elementary school in the Kensington section of Philadelphia. Kensington is an impoverished neighborhood that is riddled with crime and drugs . One hundred percent of the students at my school receive free breakfast and lunch every day. Despite all of this, these children come to school every day eager to learn. Many of our parents struggle to purchase the school supplies their children need for school. My goal is to make the stressful supply-buying time for families easier by having supplies in my classroom for students to be able to use daily on a daily basis. These supplies will ensure students have all supplies needed to complete work in school and at home during our distance learning time this upcoming school year.

My Project

These headphones and other basic supplies would be extremely beneficial for in-person learning as well as distance learning. Each child would have access to their own individual supplies to use within the classroom as well as at home. In the event that schools are closed for an extended period of time again, these basic supplies will help them to be successful learners while at home. With these headphones and other basic supplies, my students will have the supplies they need to stay engaged and participate in the lessons no matter where they are!
