This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Remember how much fun you had shopping for back to school supplies? All the fun things you would throw in your cart? Remember the extra supplies you didn't really need that mom always got you? Help my little first graders fill their baggies this year!

My little first graders are inner city kiddies.

They are all from low income homes, and all of them receive free lunch. My kiddies struggle daily in their home lives. Many come to school because they know there is food at school and a mostly caring environment. Many are playing the roles of caretakers at home while parents work two or three jobs at a time. Despite it all, my little ones come to school every day with smiles on their little faces. They are so eager to please and learn. I just want them to have all the things they need to be successful and enjoy learning.

My Project

I am requesting glue, scissors, notebooks, and index cards for our back-to-school supply list. My students will use glue a lot in school. We do projects every day as they work in their interactive notebooks. They are constantly gluing. They will use scissors to complete projects and homework. They will use index cards to make sight word flash cards and math facts flash cards. We also use them to make 'go fish' games with our sight words. All of these materials I would like to place on their desks when school begins again. This will keep my little ones (and their families) from stressing or feeling that they are the one child who does not have a notebook.

My project will bring a smile to every little face in my classroom this year.

It will make my little first graders feel happy and secure in the classroom knowing that they are starting out the school year with everything they need. You can help put that smile on my little firsties faces! Please consider helping my little ones.
