Help me give my students folders for communication with parents, pencils and erasers for school work, and dry erase markers and erasers for hands on activities.
This year, I am working with a great bunch of first graders! In my class, I have 30 of the most loving, caring, and brightest scholars! They come to school hungry, looking for a safe environment to be themselves. Our school provides breakfast and lunch to our children.
My students and I have created a safe, engaging, homelike environment for us to learn and grow together.
We will use this time together not only for them to grow as students, soaking in information, reaching their goals and moving on to the next grade, but also for me to grow as a teacher.
That's where DonorsChoose.org comes in. My students are from Detroit. Not everyone can buy school supplies, and our school is fairly new. We don't have all of the materials that well established schools have.
My Project
Another school year! I am so happy to be teaching these kiddos this school year. Having these folders for home/school communication will be key to my students learning. Parents are such an important part of a child's education, and being able to communicate effectively with them for day one is crucial.
Having pencils and erasers for those children who cannot afford school supplies will also be appreciated.
We need to get working right away on day one. Having the dry erase markers and erasers will help with hands on activities that we will be doing in the first few weeks of school as well.
