This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"When you enter this classroom... You are scientists. You are explorers. You are artists. You are mathematicians. You are authors. You are important. You are respected. You are the reason why I am here."

My class is full of creative, young minds that enjoy being challenged.

My students look forward to coming to school every day to a safe space with consistent expectations. At our Title I school, the students have very diverse backgrounds. They come to school every day looking for a safe and stable environment, ready to learn. They all receive free breakfast, lunch, and a snack to ensure that they are all getting the food they need because many families cannot afford it.

My Project

Because many of my students come from low-income households, they are not able to afford the necessary school supplies to last them the year. I am looking for alternative ways to get these supplies so that our learning can begin. There are some essential items our classroom needs desperately! I have asked for a pencil sharpener because we do not have a sharpener in our classroom. This adds another unnecessary stress. With a functioning pencil sharpener, we will be able to focus more time on learning instead of trying to finding a sharp pencil. Paper is another must-have item. So many things have to be copied every day, including homework and assessments. Without paper, I have no way of copying these things for my students. Finally, I have asked for a timer to help both me and my students stay on task and engaged. With these resources, I will be able to spend more of my time focused on my teaching and doing what is best for my students.

With these resources, I will be able to create a more engaging and organized classroom.

I will not have to limit my students' learning and creativity because I do not have materials or resources for them to use. My students and I love our classroom and want to see it reach its full potential. We just need a little help to get there!
