My Students
These materials are for a wonderful group of fourth-graders who are excited about learning! They started the year off at home, distance learning but are finally back in person! My favorite part of teaching is helping my students develop a love for learning! Our school is amazing, and it is a very warm and inviting place. We have a wonderful community of teachers, parents, and students working hard every day to help everyone succeed.
My school has a very diverse population of students and families.
We are located in what some call a bedroom community because parents work farther from home. Some of our students are low-income, English Language Learners, come from single-parent homes, or are living with other guardians. It can be challenging to meet the needs of the varying abilities and backgrounds of the students, but it is something I enjoy doing. I am looking to instill a love for learning in my students.
My Project
I am looking forward to giving my students new notebooks to track their thinking while reading. They can choose what to put in these notebooks, their thoughts, wonderings, connections or even drawings while reading. They can choose to share these notebooks with me but will not be forced.

When students enter our classroom, I want them to feel welcomed, relaxed and safe. I think some new soft colors will add to a calm environment and make it feel more inviting.
